Cigar City Craft Beer Tasting
Join us for one of a kind beer tasting event with one of Florida’s biggest craft breweries, Cigar City Brewing. Born in Tampa, FL, Cigar City Brewing (CCB) began selling its first batches of beer to the public in 2009. “Creating quality beer that reflected the flavors and history of the Tampa region” was the goal that Founder Joey Redner set out with when he first started brewing beer in Tampa, historically known as “Cigar City”. With such popular staples as Jai Alai India Pale Ale, Maduro Brown Ale, and Florida Cracker White Ale, along with the rest of CCB’s massive catalog of brews, he more than met his goal. The bar was raised even higher when the brews such as the now-legendary and still highly sought-after Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout emerged onto the craft beer scene. This once tiny Florida brewery, whose slogan reads HECHO A MANO, meaning handmade, produced 1,000 barrels of beer in its first year.
A decade later, with beer available in half the United States and select international markets, CCB’s year-end production for 2018 was estimated to surpass 140,000 barrels and the flagship Jai Alai IPA has become one of the top 3 fastest growing craft beer brands in the country. The past ten years have also seen critical acclaim and accolades from the likes of the Great American Beer Festival, RateBeer.com, the Best Florida Beer Championship, and more. The U.S. Open Beer Championship, a global competition, has ranked Cigar City in its list of Top 10 Breweries six times since 2011 and has bestowed more than three dozen awards to their beers since 2011, when Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout first claimed GOLD. Keeping the Blues Alive and Sixthman are exceptionally proud to team with one of Florida’s most beloved and prosperous craft breweries for KTBA at Sea V’s beer tasting.
In this exclusive event CCB will be navigate us through a hand-picked selection of their renowned craft brews. Along with the flagship IPA, Jai Alai, this event will offer the only chance onboard to sample several of CCB’s seasonally-limited beers (e.g. Cubano Espresso Brown Ale), tap-room exclusives, and a beer as storied as it is rare, Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout. This award-winning imperial stout is aged on cacao nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon, and ancho and pasilla chilies and is brewed only once a year. Fittingly named after a figure of Mayan mythology, this legendary and elusive stout is only available during the equally legendary Hunahpu’s Day, a beer festival which has been attended by thousands of beer fans every year since it began in 2010. With 8 different delicious beers to sample, this tasting will be guarantee a wide range of flavors and profiles that will delight new comers and beer aficionados a like.
